Steven J. Walker
President and Chief Executive Officer
Steve Walker is President and Chief Executive Officer of New England Wood Pellet LLC, which he founded in Acton, MA in 1992. NEWP has grown to be the largest manufacturer and distributor of wood pellet fuel in the northeastern US. A self taught engineer and entrepreneur, Steve is recognized as an international leader in the wood pellet sector. Steve is a tireless promoter of the use of pellet fuels in residential, commercial and industrial applications, and has served on numerous industry committees and boards.
Mark R. Wilson
Chief Operating Officer
Mark R. Wilson currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of New England Wood Pellet, LLC, which he joined in March of 2007. Prior to New England Wood Pellet, he held the position of President for OpenCell Corp., formerly Transcept, Inc., a wireless communications infrastructure equipment manufacturer that he sold to ADC Telecommunications, Inc. Previous to OpenCell, he held the position of President for LANart Corporation, a privately held data communications company that he sold to Communications Systems, Inc. His background includes several key executive positions at Telebit Corporation, a $55 million data communications company that was sold to Cisco Systems, Inc. Mr. Wilson also held senior manufacturing positions at several high technology companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in materials engineering from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Boston University.
Charles R. Niebling
General Manager, Sales and Procurement
Charlie Niebling serves as General Manager for Sales and Procurement. He joined New England Wood Pellet in January 2006. He is responsible for sales, wood procurement for the company’s three plants, corporate communications, and government and public affairs. Among external representations, he serves as chair of the board of directors of the Biomass Thermal Energy Council in Washington DC. From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Niebling was vice president for policy and land management with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, a non-profit land conservation and environmental advocacy organization. Prior to assuming this position, Mr. Niebling was a consultant for two years in the firm Innovative Natural Resource Solutions, specializing in natural resource policy, research, advocacy and public relations for corporate, government and non-profit clients. From 1987 to 1995, Mr. Niebling served as executive director of the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association, the state’s forest landowner and forest industry trade organization. He also worked as a research biologist with the U.S. Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Forest & Range Experiment Station in Berkeley, CA. Mr. Niebling holds forestry degrees from the University of Vermont (BS) and the Pennsylvania State University (MS). Mr. Niebling is a licensed professional forester.
